Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan Education Ministers Discuss Cooperation, Bishkek Incident

LONDON: The Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, held a constructive meeting with Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Minister of Federal Education and Professional Training of Pakistan on Monday in London within the framework of the World Education Forum.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both ministers to discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation in the field of education. Kyrgyz Minister Kendirbaeva began by addressing an incident that occurred in Bishkek on May 18 involving foreign students, including citizens of Pakistan.

The Kyrgyz minister reassured her Pakistani counterpart that public order in Kyrgyzstan is currently fully ensured and under the personal control of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. Kendirbaeva emphasized that law enforcement agencies are diligently investigating all aspects of the incident to ensure justice and security for all students.

Furthermore, Minister Kendirbaeva highlighted the Kyrgyz government’s commitment to maintaining the educational process and preserving the attractiveness of educational institutions in the country for foreign students. Priority has been placed on ensuring the safety and well-being of students, facilitating their integration into local communities, and conducting effective communication efforts both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the clarifications provided by his Kyrgyz counterpart, affirming his intention to relay the information to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He emphasized that the incident should not deter Pakistani citizens from pursuing further education in Kyrgyzstan.

Siddiqui underscored Pakistan’s readiness for close cooperation and the strengthening of bilateral relations in the field of education. He expressed his eagerness to explore opportunities for collaboration, acknowledging the longstanding friendly ties between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.

Minister Kendirbaeva extended an invitation to her Pakistani counterpart to visit Kyrgyzstan in the near future, offering him the chance to witness firsthand the educational environment, study conditions, and residence facilities for Pakistani students.
