ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Central Power Purchasing Authority (CPPA) has requested a temporary increase in electricity prices for one month due to fuel cost adjustments.

In its petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), CPPA has proposed an increase of Rs 2.10 per unit in the power tariff.

Nepra will review the petition on July 31 and will issue a notification if the CPPA’s request for a price increase is sanctioned.

This potential hike would impose an additional financial burden on electricity consumers, following the recent government-approved base tariff increase of up to Rs 7.12, effective from July 204.
