Pakistan, Malaysia Dominate in Asian Junior Squash Championship Semifinals

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship witnessed intense clashes of young athletes in semifinal matches here on Friday.

In the Boys U-13 category, Sohail Adnan of Pakistan demonstrated his prowess, defeating Mohammad Iffat Zulkifli from Malaysia in a commanding 3-0 victory. Meanwhile, his compatriot Huzaifa Shahid showcased his skill with a swift 11-2, 11-8, 11-5 win over Julius Tan, also from Malaysia.

In the Boys U-15 semifinals, Muhammad Raziq Puttra of Malaysia faced off against Abdullah Zaman from Pakistan, emerging victorious in straight sets. Across the court, India’s Shiven Agarwal staged a remarkable comeback after dropping the first set, rallying to triumph 3-1 over Nouman Khan of Pakistan.

The Boys U-17 category witnessed Abdullah Nawaz of Pakistan overpowering Altamis Aqhar of Malaysia in three closely contested games. Meanwhile, Nikhelswar, also from Malaysia, exhibited his strength by defeating Pakistan’s Azaan Ali in straight sets.

Hamza Khan of Pakistan showcased his dominance with a flawless performance, defeating his compatriot Muhammad Ammad convincingly in the Boys U-19 semifinals. On the other side, Harith Danial from Malaysia endured a tough battle against Jooyoung NA of Korea, clinching victory in a tightly contested four-set match.

In the Girls U-13 division, India’s Aadya Budhia displayed her skills by overcoming Hong Kong’s Chiu Hau in a thrilling four-set encounter. Another Indian, Goushika, faced stiff competition from Maisarah Mohd of Malaysia but emerged victorious after five sets of intense play.

The Girls U-15 category witnessed Malaysia’s Harleein Tan demonstrating her superiority with a commanding straight-sets win over Yek Rui Jean from Malaysia. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Lo Pui Yin Chloe battled through four sets to defeat Ooi Wen Min of Malaysia.

Moving on to the Girls U-17 semifinals, Hong Kong’s Enna Wong displayed her finesse by defeating Doyce Lee from Malaysia in straight sets. Tang Helen, also from Hong Kong, secured her spot in the finals after a hard-fought victory over Whitney Isabelle of Malaysia in a thrilling four-set match.

In the Girls U-19 category, Malaysia’s Thanussa Uthrian exhibited her skills by defeating Leung Ka from Hong Kong in four sets. Meanwhile, Japan’s Akari Midorikawa showcased her resilience with a comeback win over Goh Zhe of Malaysia in a thrilling five-set encounter.
