ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast continued monsoon rains across various regions including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan throughout the upcoming week, with intermittent breaks.
Moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to influence the weather starting from July 16.
As a result, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and several other areas in Punjab are likely to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers from July 17-20. Similar weather patterns are anticipated in Bahawalpur, Multan, and other parts of southern Punjab from July 17-19.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rainfall is predicted in various districts from July 16 evening to July 21, with periodic interruptions. Meanwhile, northeastern Balochistan, including Khuzdar and Kalat, may see rain and thundershowers from July 17-19.
In Sindh, mainly hot and humid conditions are anticipated, with rain expected in scattered areas on July 18 and July 19. Similarly, in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and thundershowers are forecasted from July 16 evening to July 21.
The PMD has cautioned about potential impacts, including increased water levels in local streams, urban flooding in Punjab and lower Sindh, landslides in hilly areas, and risks to infrastructure and daily routines due to heavy rainfall, windstorms, and lightning strikes.
Farmers are advised to plan activities accordingly, while travelers and tourists are urged to exercise caution and adjust travel plans based on weather updates.
