ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday predicted rains and thunderstorms across the country from today.
In a statement issued by the Meteorological Office today said that a westerly wave is likely to enter Pakistan from 26th April (Evening/night) and spread in the country’s southern and central areas that may persist till the first week of May.

Met Office said that under this weather system, rain-wind and thunderstorm is expected in Kashmir (Neelum valley, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Muzaffarabad, Poonch,Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, Skardu, Hunza), Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Bajaur, Kurram, Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Waziristan, Kohat, Attock, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Sialkot and Lahore from 26th April (Evening/night) to 29th April.
Rains in other parts
Rain-dust and thunderstorm with isolated heavy rain and hailstorm are expected in Balochistan (Zhob, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah, Chamman, Pishin, Noshki, huzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Awaran, Kharan,Naseerabad, Quetta, Qillah Abdullah, Sibbi, K Makran coast), south Punjab (D.G. Khan, Bahawalnagar, Multan, and Sahiwal), Sindh (Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tandojam, Thatta, Khairpur, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mitiyari, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Jamshoro from 27 April (evening/night) to 3 May.
Meanwhile, Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman has also warned everyone concerned to be cautious during the rainy season. She said that the rainfall spell might spread from Karachi to Kashmir.
