ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting rain, wind, and thundershower with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorm, potentially leading to urban flooding in vulnerable areas and disruption of daily activities.

Monsoon currents originating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are expected to penetrate eastern parts of Pakistan starting June 26. Moreover, a low-pressure system over southern Gujarat, India, is influencing the weather patterns.

The forecast indicates rain, wind, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms in various regions:

From June 27 to July 01, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and several districts in Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad are likely to experience intermittent rainfall.

In Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, similar weather conditions are expected from June 26 to July 01.

Southern Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan are also expected to receive rain and thunderstorms during this period.

The PMD has cautioned that heavy rains could trigger urban and flash floods in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and hilly areas of Kashmir between June 28-30. The weather conditions may also lead to dust storms, windstorms, and lightning, posing risks to infrastructure and daily routines.

Authorities have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks and ensure public safety during this weather event.
