Pakistan Minister Pledges to Improve Quality of Education

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s caretaker Minister for Education Madad Ali Sindhi on ‘World Education Day’ stressed the crucial role of quality skilled-based education for shaping a prosperous future for the country and encouraged youth to prepare themselves effectively to face future challenges while serving the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he highlighted the urgency of bringing children outside of schools into the educational system to address issues such as poverty, health, and societal concerns. He stated that Pakistan is rapidly advancing its education infrastructure and policies at all levels. The minister advocated for the expansion of programs like BISP to enrolle more students in schools.

He underscored the need for additional trained and skilled teachers, and he noted that the caretaker government is actively taking steps in this direction. He emphasized that skill-based education is essential to meet market requirements.

He stressed the importance of transforming the education system to align with modern trends. He stated that a workforce equipped with skills is essential to meet the demands of the modern age, characterized by unprecedented technological advancements.

The minister mentioned that the caretaker government is working on comprehensive policies that reflect the human resource demands of the country, region, and other nations globally. He highlighted the coordination between the ministry and relevant departments to utilize existing infrastructure, enhance teachers’ capacity building, and expand the outreach of education.

The minister expressed hope that the upcoming government would prioritize and enhance the skill development capacity of the people through various initiatives and steps.   —APP
