ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Mongolia agreed to establish a Joint Ministerial Commission aimed at enhancing cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, and mining, as well as forming an inter-parliamentary union to strengthen bilateral parliamentary ties.
This agreement was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) Meeting, according to a press release from the PM Office.
During their discussions, Prime Minister Shehbaz urged both nations to explore new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and people-to-people connections. He proposed sending Mongolian civil servants to training institutions in Pakistan and proposed designating 2025 as the Year of Pakistan-Mongolia Friendship to further enhance their ties.
Welcoming Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene, Shehbaz noted that his visit marks a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, characterized by mutual respect and goodwill. He congratulated Oyun-Erdene on his re-election as Prime Minister of Mongolia and expressed eagerness to collaborate closely to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Oyun-Erdene congratulated Shehbaz on the successful organization of the SCO CHG Meeting and commended Pakistan’s leadership role as Chair. He echoed the sentiment to build stronger bilateral relations through joint efforts.
The Mongolian prime minister also planted a sapling in the lawn of the Prime Minister’s House as a symbol of their growing partnership.
