BEIJING: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, on Saturday inaugurated the Pakistan National Pavilion at the Sichuan Agriculture Expo in Chengdu.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Hu Yun, the Secretary of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Dr. Farheed Iqbal, and Pakistan’s Acting Consul General in Chengdu, Agha Hunain Abbas Khan.
The Pavilion serves as a platform to showcase Pakistan’s renowned tourist destinations and exhibit a variety of agricultural products from the country.
More than a dozen Pakistani companies showcased their agricultural goods at the Pavilion.
On the same day, Ambassador Moin ul Haque took part in the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Sichuan Agriculture Expo, where Pakistan holds the esteemed title of the Country of Honour.
During his address at the ceremony, the Ambassador emphasized the robust bilateral relations between Pakistan and China, grounded in political trust, strategic communication, and pragmatic collaboration.
Sichuan Agriculture Expo to Boost Cooperation with China
He also highlighted the close partnership between Pakistan and Sichuan, including collaborations involving sister provinces and cities.
Pakistan’s participation in the Expo is poised to stimulate ongoing cooperation in the agricultural sector between Pakistan and China. Recently, the two countries finalized five crucial agriculture Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) protocols, granting Pakistan access to a market worth US$30 billion encompassing cooked beef, dairy products, chillies, cherries, and other livestock goods. This initiative is expected to boost Pakistan’s exports to China.
The Sichuan Agriculture Expo stands as the largest agricultural exhibition in western China, catering to over 400 million people. With more than 2,000 exhibitors and an anticipated attendance of over 200,000 individuals, it presents a significant opportunity for collaboration and trade.
