ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership on Friday declared terrorists the “enemies of Pakistan” and vowed to respond “with full force” to those who challenge the country.
The statement was issued by the Prime Minister’s Office after a high-level meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) held in Islamabad in the wake of the recent wave of violence in the country.
The participants of the meeting said that the entire nation was united against terrorism. The NSC vowed that they would not compromise on the national interests of Pakistan. The statement added that no one will be allowed to harm the country’s national security and survival. The top military and civil leadership of the country said that the basic interests of Pakistan’s survival, security and development will be protected with great courage, consistency and steadfastness.
Intelligence officials briefed NSC huddle on recent wave of terrorism
During the meeting, the heads of the country’s intelligence agencies briefed the participants on the overall law and order situation in the country, particularly, the recent wave of terrorism and the measures to counter it. The country’s economy and law and order situation were also reviewed in detail during the meeting.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar gave a detailed account to the participants about the economic situation and challenges of the country as well as the strategy and measures adopted by the government with regard to the current financial situation.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar apprised the participants of the situation in Afghanistan and informed them about Pakistan’s relations with the interim government in Afghanistan.
The participants of the meeting paid rich tribute to the great sacrifices of the martyrs against terrorism and expressed condolence to their families, as well as collectively prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased.
