Pakistan Observes Youm-e-Takbeer with National Zeal

ISLAMABAD: The nation is observing 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer today with national zeal and enthusiasm in remembrance of successful nuclear tests conducted on this day in 1998 that made the defense of the country invincible.

The day is commemorated every year on May 28 to remember the conduction of nuclear tests on the very day, in 1998, making 7th nuclear nation of the world and first Muslim state equipped with nuclear arsenal.

Pakistan had conducted nuclear tests in Chaghi district of Balochistan in response to five nuclear explosions conducted by India, threatening the security of Pakistan.

These nuclear tests gave a very clear message to the world that despite Pakistan is a peace-loving nation but it cannot ignore its defence needs and is capable of meeting any challenge.

Acting President, Prime Minister and Services Chiefs have felicitated the people of Pakistan on the observance of the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer. In his message on the day, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has reiterated the determination to continue working towards a stable and peaceful world.

Gilani said that Youm-e-Takbeer serves as a testament to our nation’s resilience, firm determination, and commitment to maintaining regional peace. The Acting President said that Pakistan, as a responsible nuclear nation, firmly believes in the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Congratulating the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer in his message on X, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the day symbolizes the collective effort of all facets of national power. He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and scientists for their role in initiating and continuing the country’s nuclear programme.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs have felicitated the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer. In a statement, ISPR stated that Armed Forces pay tribute to the unwavering dedication and selfless sacrifices of all those who contributed to this remarkable feat, achieved against overwhelming odds.

It stated that the Armed Forces of Pakistan reaffirm their unwavering resolve to defend the motherland, protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure the nation’s security at all times and at any cost.

Govt Announces Public Holiday

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared public holiday on May 28 to mark Youm-e-Takbeer, a day when Pakistan’s defence became impregnable following nuclear tests in the hills of Chagai, Balochistan. The prime minister said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister House that Youm-e-Takbeer reminds the Pakistani nation of unity to make the defence of the nation invincible.

The Prime Minister said on this day in 1998, the whole nation decided for the integrity of the country, that there would be no compromise by accepting any foreign pressure on national defence.
