ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday offered support to Oman in combating terrorism while condemning the recent attack on an Imambargah in Muscat, which claimed six lives and injured over 30 people.
The Prime Minister made this offer during a courtesy visit by Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Al Kharusi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, at the Prime Minister’s House, a statement from the PM House said.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz praised Oman’s swift response and cooperation in repatriating the deceased and treating the injured, most of whom were Pakistani nationals. The attack, perpetrated by three Omani brothers with extremist ideologies, resulted in casualties among Pakistani expatriates.
PM Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding struggle against terrorism and expressed condolences for the victims. He also conveyed warm regards to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, recalling their recent conversations on Eid occasions.
The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to Sultan Haitham to visit Pakistan and emphasized the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and Oman, rooted in shared history, faith, and culture. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and defense.
Acknowledging the Ambassador’s efforts to facilitate a trade and investment delegation’s upcoming visit to Pakistan, PM Shehbaz assured full cooperation from Pakistani authorities to ensure fruitful outcomes.
The Ambassador conveyed Sultan Haitham’s greetings and affirmed Oman’s commitment to enhancing trade and investment relations with Pakistan.
