Pakistan Opens Registration for Foreign Players in Premier Cricket League

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced it has opened the registration process for foreign players to participate in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the South Asian country’s premier cricket league, scheduled to be played next year.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of the registration process for foreign players as well as the trade window,” according to the PCB. “This marks an exciting start to preparations for the highly anticipated 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League.”

Founded in 2015, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a men’s Twenty20 cricket league contested by six teams. The league also features a mix of Pakistani and foreign cricketers who play side-by-side in the franchises.

The PCB said on Thursday, “The registration window for foreign players to register themselves for the next edition of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) along with the trade window is now open.”

It added that the category renewals of the players will be announced on 17 December.

According to the PCB, the relegation process and retention of cricketers will be carried out during the current month.

The PCB said that the PSL Players’ Draft is scheduled to take place on Jan. 11, 2025. It maintained that the venue and time for the draft will be announced soon.

Since 2016, Islamabad United has claimed the HBL PSL title three times, winning in the inaugural season (2016), the third edition (2018), and the most recent one (2024).

Lahore Qalandars have secured the trophy twice, in 2022 and 2023, while Peshawar Zalmi triumphed in 2017.

Quetta Gladiators took the title in 2019, Karachi Kings won their first championship in 2020, and Multan Sultans emerged victorious in 2021.
