ISLAMABAD: The government has hiked the petrol price by Rs 4.13 to 279.75 per litre for the next fortnight starting Friday.
The new price of petrol is now 279.75 per litre from the last price of Rs275.62, said a notification issued by the Finance Division.
However, the prices of high-speed diesel (HSD), light-diesel oil (LDO) and kerosene oil remain unchanged.
Global market has recorded increase in the prices of major petroleum products over the last fortnight and the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) also had to pay higher import rates.
The new prices have been announced after holding consultation with caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar. The new petroleum prices would come into effect from March 1.
Meanwhile, the people have voiced concern over the recent increase in fuel prices.
