ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar affirmed on Tuesday that despite limited resources, the federal government is committed to providing comprehensive support for the development and welfare of the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Chairing a meeting to discuss KP-related matters, the prime minister expressed awareness of the challenges faced by the province and reiterated the Federal Government’s support for the people of KP, particularly considering their significant sacrifices against terrorism.
Committee Formed to Resolve KP’s Net Hydel Profits, Royalties
Prime Minister Kakar directed the relevant authorities to address the issues confronting KP and formed a secretarial committee to resolve financial matters. The committee, chaired by the federal finance secretary, includes federal secretaries of planning, water resources, and petroleum. The committee will focus on recommendations regarding the payment of net hydel profits and oil and gas royalties.
Moreover, the prime minister urged an expedited process for granting university status to Khyber Medical College of Peshawar and Ayub Medical College of Abbottabad.
Highlighting the caretaker government’s achievements in the last four months, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the introduction of reforms in various sectors to benefit the country and facilitate the incoming elected government.
Caretaker federal ministers Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Muhammad Ali, and Ahmed Irfan Aslam, Caretaker KP Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Arshad Hussain Shah, Minister Amir Abdullah, chairpersons of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), and senior officers were present at the meeting.
