Pakistan PM Awards Rs2.5 mln Reward to Javelin Athlete Arshad Nadeem

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem on Tuesday for his historic achievement of winning a silver medal at the World Athletics Championship 2023. 

During their meeting, the prime minister lauded Arshad Nadeem’s dedication to securing the silver medal despite limited resources, stating that his accomplishment brought pride to the nation. The premier conferred a reward of Rs2.5 million to him for clinching the silver medal. 

The meeting was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Romeena Khurshid Alam MNA, and Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan from the Punjab Assembly.

PM Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the abundant talent in Pakistan’s sports arena, emphasizing the need for nurturing and promoting sports talent, particularly in rural areas.

On this occasion, Arshad Nadeem briefed the prime minister on his sports journey and achievements, mentioning his debut in 2012 and subsequent participation in various international events representing Pakistan.

Describing the meeting as productive, Arshad Nadeem discussed several measures to enhance sports development in the country, underscoring the importance of continued support and investment in sports at all levels.
