ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday stressed the importance of raising awareness and encouraging early detection of breast cancer, especially among women.
He pointed out that breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women worldwide and that a large number of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, including Pakistan.
He expressed these remarks during a message on International Day against Breast Cancer. The prime minister acknowledged the challenges Pakistan faces in providing proper screening and treatment for breast cancer but emphasized that these challenges can be overcome with a focus on early diagnosis.
“There’s a 98% chance of full recovery when breast cancer is detected early,” he said, urging women to take proactive steps by performing regular self-examinations.

“I urge all stakeholders, especially the media, to strengthen efforts for a comprehensive awareness campaign countrywide,” the prime minister said, adding, “Together, we can significantly reduce breast cancer deaths in Pakistan and offer hope for a healthier future for all women.”
