Pakistan PM Commends Security Forces for Successful Anti-Terror Operation in Buner

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) against terrorists in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

In a statement issued by the PM Office Media wing, Shehbaz Sharif said that the valiant Jawans of the Pakistan Army, with their professional capability, had dealt a blow to the enemies of the country. He further stated that he, along with the entire nation, paid tribute to the valorous soldiers for their courageous act.

The Prime Minister also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Lance Havildar Mudassar Mehmood and Lance Naek Haseeb Javed. He prayed for the high ranks of the martyrs and for the bereaved families to bear the losses with fortitude. He emphasized that the unprecedented sacrifices of the sons of the soil were a matter of great pride for the whole nation, adding that the nation stood alongside its armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He also reaffirmed the resolve to continue the fight against terrorism until its complete elimination.

Earlier today, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that a high-value target (HVT) was killed in an intelligence-based operation in Buner, carried out on the reported presence of terrorists. The ISPR added, “During the operation, after an intense firefight, HVT Terrorist ring leader Saleem @Rabbani was neutralized, while two other terrorists were injured.”

The ISPR further stated, “Terrorist Saleem @Rabbani was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces, as well as extortion and target killings of innocent civilians. He was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies, with the government offering a reward of PKR 5 million for his capture.”

However, during the operation, two brave soldiers, Lance Havildar Mudassar Mehmood (age-36; resident of district Rawalpindi) and Lance Naik Haseeb Javed (age-27; resident of district Poonch, AJ&K), fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom.
