Pakistan PM Reiterates Commitment to Economic Stability, Regional Challenges

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar reiterated the caretaker government’s dedication to restoring economic stability in Pakistan through the ongoing implementation of a comprehensive economic recovery plan.

In an interview with a US media outlet, Prime Minister Kakar expressed deep concern for the country’s stability, noting that the current situation is under control and being closely monitored. He highlighted that the caretaker government’s primary duty is to facilitate the electoral process while focusing on the significant challenge of economic revival.

Regarding Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan, he acknowledged that it would take time to improve ties with the de facto government of Afghanistan but expressed confidence in achieving this goal.

In response to a question about the US’s attention to the South Asian region, PM Kakar emphasized the importance of the region, with a population of around 3 to 4 billion people. He pointed out potential conflicts in the area, including the Kashmir dispute between two nuclear-armed states, emphasizing the need for global attention to prevent destabilization.

Restoring Economic Stability

PM Kakar also expressed concerns about the so-called “Indo-Pacific” policy and the encirclement of a regional power in the South China Sea. He stressed that Pakistan is closely monitoring these developments and is preparing to respond to potential challenges.

The premier said that there is no shortage of essential commodities and through economic recovery plan, Pakistan will overcome to current challenges and will bring economic stability.
