Pakistan PM, Sri Lankan President Discuss Bilateral Relations in Dubai

DUBAI: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on the sidelines of COP-28 in Dubai on Saturday.

During the meeting, they affirmed their commitment to deepen and enhance bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and cultural domains between the two countries. They also emphasized strengthening people-to-people contacts, according to a press release issued from the PM Office Media Wing.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed appreciation for the close and friendly nature of Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral relations, highlighting the strong goodwill shared between their respective populations.

Sri Lanka’s Tackling of Financial Challenges

President Wickremesinghe shared insights into Sri Lanka’s experiences and measures to tackle financial challenges and inflation. Prime Minister Kakar, in turn, briefed the Sri Lankan president on the government’s initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy.

The discussions encompassed the significance of collaborative efforts to promote peace and development in South Asia, addressing shared challenges, including the adverse impacts of climate change.

They affirmed the commitment of both nations to foster a robust and mutually beneficial partnership.
