Pakistan PM Stresses Collaborative Efforts for Oil and Gas Exploration

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to explore both onshore and offshore oil and gas reserves in Pakistan, pointing to the country’s abundant natural resources.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Petroleum Conference 2024, he expressed the government’s readiness to contribute to infrastructure development, logistics, and security to enhance exploration and production endeavors.

Addressing the conference attendees, including Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir as the guest of honor, the prime minister underscored that the event reflects a collective commitment to fully harness the immense mineral potential. This, he stated, aims to ensure energy self-sufficiency and position Pakistan as a regional exporter of energy.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar commended the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Federal Ministry of Energy for creating an investor-friendly environment by streamlining regulations and procedures.

Ali Taha Al-Temimi, Country Manager of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s relentless efforts in bringing stakeholders together to formulate policy recommendations and boost investment in the petroleum sector.

The conference, attended by provincial chief ministers, the minister for energy, secretary petroleum, government representatives, policy makers, and both foreign and domestic investors from the energy and petroleum sector, aimed to facilitate dialogue and collaboration for the advancement of the industry.
