ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of potential political repercussions of its recent correspondence with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding future bailout talks.
In an exclusive interview with a local TV channel, Prime Minister Kakar strongly criticized PTI’s approach as ‘highly irresponsible,’ expressing concerns over the party’s decision to involve the IMF in Pakistan’s internal political affairs.
Kakar’s remarks follow PTI’s call for the IMF to consider Pakistan’s political stability in future bailout discussions, a move that has stirred debate and raised eyebrows within political circles.
During the interview, Kakar firmly disapproved of PTI’s direct engagement with the IMF on matters concerning Pakistan’s political stability. He emphasized the availability of established channels to address electoral grievances and deemed PTI’s initiative as misguided and potentially harmful to the national interests.
“This is a regrettable step,” Kakar stressed. “There are proper channels to address electoral issues, and this letter will likely yield no positive outcomes.”
Kakar also warned PTI about the potential repercussions of its actions, cautioning that such maneuvers could alienate stakeholders and undermine the party’s credibility, particularly during a critical transitional period for the nation.
