ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Thursday welcomed investment from Saudi Arabia as he met a four-member delegation led by Sheikh Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Jomaih, head of Al-Jomaih Holding Group, a PM house statement said.
Al-Jomaih Holding Group, one of the largest business groups in Saudi Arabia is a major investor in Pakistan’s K-Electric company.
According to the statement, the PM said Al-Jomaih Group has invested heavily in Karachi Electric.
He also lauded K-Electric strategy to invest in the alternative energy sector of Pakistan as it would help reduce the power tariff for the benefit of consumers.
The prime minister expressed the hope that the K-Electric would further enhance its infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply to domestic and industrial consumers.
He added Pakistan values Saudi investment in Pakistan and welcome Saudi investment in Pakistan’s energy sector.
Talking to the delegation PM Kakar said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have brotherly ties which are getting further stronger.
The delegation of Al-Jumia Group thanked the Prime Minister and the government team for solving the long-standing issues of Karachi Electric.
Briefing the prime minister of the company’s 1500 megawatt projects, the delegation said that the projects would feature the usage of local resources and alternative energy.
Federal Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Energy Minister Muhammad Ali and senior officers attended the meeting.
