ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday emphasized the significance of enhancing economic cooperation and business relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan for the mutual benefit of both nations.
President Zardari advocated for stronger linkages between their stock exchanges to boost economic collaboration.
The president made these remarks during a meeting with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, who visited along with Atadjan Movlamov, the Turkmen Ambassador to Pakistan, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, stated a press release issued from the President Secretariat Press Wing.
Welcoming the delegation, President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to its relationship with Turkmenistan, rooted in shared values, religion, and culture. He called for joint efforts toward shared prosperity and stability in the region, benefiting the people of both countries.
He reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to the timely completion of the TAPI Gas pipeline project, noting its potential to significantly contribute to the economic development of both nations.
Rashid Meredov expressed gratitude for President Zardari’s participation in the International Forum celebrating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguli Faragi in Ashgabat, calling it a meaningful gesture of respect for the Turkmen people. He also conveyed warm greetings from Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The president thanked Meredov for his involvement in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states held in Islamabad and expressed appreciation for the hospitality he received during his visit to Ashgabat.
