Pakistan, Qatar Vow to Strengthen Strategic Ties

DOHA: Pakistan and Qatar have reiterated their commitment to strengthening strategic ties, underscoring the significance of shared economic objectives and regional stability.

This was expressed during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Thursday.

Delegation-level talks were also held before a one-on-one meeting during which issues of mutual interest were discussed.

Both leaders reviewed the whole spectrum of Pakistan-Qatar ties, exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in trade, energy,  investment and culture.

Regional and global issues of common interest also came under discussion especially the ongoing Israeli war against innocent people of Palestine in Gaza and the escalation of tensions in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the stance of Qatar on the issue of Palestine expressed by its Amir during the 79th UNGA meeting held on 24th of the last month. He commended mediation efforts by Qatar for immediate ceasefire in Gaza and uninterrupted supply of humanitarian assistance in Gaza. The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to the Amir of Qatar to visit Pakistan.

The visit of the Prime Minister is another milestone in the strengthening partnership between Pakistan and Qatar.
