Pakistan: Rain, Thunderstorms to Grip Most Parts of Country from Thursday

ISLAMABAD: Rain, wind, and thunderstorms with isolated few heavy falls, hailstorms and occasional gaps are expected in most parts of the country, from March 16 to 20 i.e. Thursday to Monday, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, and other parts of the country.

A westerly wave is expected to enter the country on Friday and grip the upper and central parts until Monday, according to the weather forecast.

The Met Office has advised the relevant authorities to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid any unfavorable condition during the forecast period. Wind-hailstorm damage to infrastructure and standing crops is possible, and local governments have been warned to prepare for landslides in hilly areas.

Daytime temperatures in the country

Daytime temperatures are expected to drop by 6°C to 8°C during the spell, so tourists are advised to exercise caution. The rain is expected to benefit the Barani areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Tourists should also be extra cautious during the forecast period.

Rain, wind, dust, and thunderstorm are predicted in Murree, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Buner, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Shangla, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsada, Swabi, Nowshera, Bajaur, Kurram, Bannu, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan from March 16 to 20.

While, rain will occur in Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Nankana Sahib, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Kot Addu, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, Karachi, Zhob, Quetta, Khuzdar, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah, Hatnai, Qillah Abdullah, Chamman and Pishin from Friday to Sunday.

Rain-wind with few heavy falls and hailstorm is expected in Kashmir in Muzaffarabad, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, Hattian, Haveli, Kotli, Sudhanoti, Bhimber, Mirpur. Diamir, Hunza, Astore, Shigar, Ghizer, Skardu, Gilgit, and Ghanche in Gilgit Baltistan from Friday to Monday.
