ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday rejected Indian allegations implicating it in recent developments in Bangladesh which forced Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee the country, ending her 15-year tenure as Prime Minister.

At a weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch described these accusations as a reflection of India’s troubling preoccupation with Pakistan. The spokesperson said that Pakistan maintains positive relations with Bangladesh.

She reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh and expressed hope for a swift return to normalcy in the country.

Baloch expressed confidence in the resilience and unity of the Bangladeshi people, believing they will guide the nation toward a harmonious future. She also noted that Pakistan’s High Commissioner attended the inauguration of Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister.

Addressing other questions, Baloch dismissed claims by former Indian law enforcement officials that Pakistan is responsible for increased attacks in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She criticized Indian authorities and media for frequently blaming Pakistan for issues occurring under their jurisdiction and urged them to address the sentiments of the Kashmiri people and implement UN Security Council resolutions for a fair plebiscite.

Baloch also categorically denied a report from the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post, which claimed that Pakistan intends to supply Shaheen-III ballistic missiles to Iran in the event of escalating conflict with Israel.

She condemned the spread of such misinformation and called for responsible reporting during this critical time in the Middle East.
