Pakistan Religious Affairs Minister Arrives in Saudi Arabia to Finalize Hajj Preparations

MADINA:  Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed, has arrived on a five-day visit to Saudi Arabia with the aim of finalizing arrangements for the upcoming Hajj season.

Upon his arrival at Madina airport, Minister Aneeq was greeted with a warm welcome. During his stay, he held crucial discussions with the Saudi Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Abdul Rehman Al-Bajawi, focusing on the expansion of the ‘Road to Makkah’ project to other airports in Pakistan. The primary objective is to enhance the overall experience for pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.

Minister Aneeq also convened meetings with various representatives from catering services and accommodation providers. During these discussions, he stressed the importance of expeditiously finalizing agreements for accommodations in the central area. Additionally, he emphasized the need to design a comprehensive flight schedule that ensures the smooth operation of Hajj 2024.

Several key officials were present during these meetings, including Director-General Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro, Director Madina Zia-ur-Rehman, and Deputy Director Madina Zaigham Nawaz.

As part of his visit, Minister Aneeq is scheduled to meet with Muslim World League Secretary-General Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa and Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, during his stay in the capital city, Riyadh. These meetings aim to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and ensure the successful organization of the Hajj pilgrimage.

This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating a safe and smooth Hajj experience for its citizens and demonstrates the importance of collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in religious affairs.
