ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported another case of the deadly Congo fever in Quetta as a 50-year-old man tested positive for the virus, local media reported.
The patient, a resident of Quetta, had shown symptoms consistent with Congo fever, prompting doctors to conduct thorough medical tests which confirmed the diagnosis.
The man has been admitted to the Fatima Jinnah Institute, where he is receiving treatment in an isolation ward to prevent further spread of the virus. This latest case comes shortly after another patient, a 55-year-old man, was diagnosed with Congo fever in Quetta on September 4.
Health experts have urged people, especially those working closely with livestock, to adopt precautionary measures against Congo fever, which is typically spread through ticks found on animals. The disease poses significant health risks, with symptoms that can include high fever, vomiting, and, in severe cases, internal bleeding.
Quetta has experienced a concerning rise in Congo fever cases over the past year. Health officials emphasized preventive steps, such as using protective clothing and regularly checking animals for ticks, to curb the spread of this deadly virus.
