Pakistan Reviews CPEC Phase 2 Ahead of 13th JCC Meeting

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a review meeting on CPEC Phase 2 and the 13th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) on Tuesday.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, included senior officials and representatives from various federal and provincial ministries.

Officials received a detailed briefing on the preparations for the upcoming online JCC meeting. Discussions focused on projects related to communications, infrastructure, energy, economic development, agriculture, and the security of Chinese personnel working in Pakistan.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the protection and safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and programs is a top priority for the Government of Pakistan. He highlighted that a comprehensive security strategy has been formulated to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and projects.

Ahsan Iqbal also stressed the urgency of starting the bidding process for the ML-1 project and establishing a clear timeline for its initiation. Regarding the Mineral Corridor, he directed efforts to finalize the agreement during the JCC session and called for sub-working group meetings with Chinese officials to expedite discussions on Mineral Corridor projects.
