Pakistan, Russia Agree to Strengthen Relations Across Key Sectors

ASTANA: Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their mutual relations, placing particular emphasis on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, defense, and energy.

During a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and his Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, agreed to continue efforts to expand Pakistan-Russia relations.

They discussed the growing bilateral understanding and cooperation between Pakistan and the Russian Federation.

Furthermore, they discussed the recent regional and global developments, with Dar extending congratulations to Lavrov on the successful and peaceful election process in Russia.

Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Russia relations and welcomed the increasing cooperation between the two nations.

Additionally, they agreed to convene the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) in Moscow later this year, aiming to further enhance bilateral ties.

The meeting underscored the commitment of both countries to bolster their partnership, with a specific focus on economic, trade, and strategic cooperation.
