ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have voiced hope to ink protocols for expanding cooperation in 9 major economic sectors including oil and liquified natural gas (LNG).
During a 3-day Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the prospects for cooperation in the sector of electricity including renewable power projects and hydropower were examined here in Islamabad. While cooperation in the field of gas and oil production and possibilities for Russian energy supply to Pakistan also came under discussion.
The two sides are likely to sign on Friday joint protocols for future cooperation in 9 major areas of bilateral interest including investment and trade, finance, customs, agriculture, energy, industrial cooperation, information & communication technologies, communications like roads, railways, and postal services, education & science and technology.
About eighty members of the Russian delegation also included businessmen who would be holding B2B meetings with the Pakistani businessmen on the sidelines of the conference.
Economic affairs ministers lead teams
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister for Economic Affairs, and Nikolay Shulginov, Russian Minister of Energy, are leading their economic teams that will make major decisions on Friday.
