NEW YORK: Pakistan and St. Kitts & Nevis, a Caribbean nation, Thursday established formal diplomatic ties at a ceremony held at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations in New York.
Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram and her St. Kitts & Nevis counterpart, Dr. Mutryce Williams, inked a joint communique to formalize the ties between their nations.
Saint Kitts and Nevis, which gained independence in 1983, is a dual-island country situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Pakistan, Saint Kitts & Nevis Establish Diplomatic Ties
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s permanent envoy at UN, Ambassador Akram stated that the formal establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations would open up avenues for cooperation in several sectors such as trade, finance, information technology and investment.

Ambassador Akram stated that it would provide an opportunity to the representatives of both nations at different tiers to have close and meaningful interaction, aimed at benefiting from each other’s experiences.
Munir Akram said he looked forward to a renewed partnership with the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts & Nevis on the areas of common interest at the multilateral and bilateral forums.
On the occasion, Ambassador Williams thanked the Pakistan Mission for hosting the ceremony. The two nations, she said, might be located at the far ends of the world, but they have had mutual respect for each other.
The Ambassador further said that the formal establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and St. Kitts & Nevis would lead to cooperation in different sectors, especially tourism, trade, and education. _APP
