Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Agree to Enhance Cooperation in Telecom, IT Sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen their collaboration in the information technology and telecommunications sector, reported state-run Associated Press of Pakistan on Thursday.

The agreement to enhance ties in these areas was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy, stated in a press release.

Minister Shaza Fatima expressed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Saudi Arabia specifically in IT and telecommunications.

She highlighted Saudi Arabia’s appeal as a promising market for Pakistani tech firms and urged the facilitation of visa processes for Pakistani IT companies registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) intending to operate in the Kingdom.

Moreover, Minister Shaza Fatima emphasized Pakistan’s interest in collaborating with Saudi Arabia on cybersecurity initiatives.

Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy affirmed Saudi Arabia’s full cooperation with Pakistan in advancing mutual interests in IT and telecommunications.

He assured support for Pakistani tech companies in visa facilitation and travel arrangements.

Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi, Director General International Coordination at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, was also present during the meeting.
