Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Agree to Strengthen Economic Cooperation

RIYADH: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have expressed the resolve to strengthen the bilateral economic cooperation, and collaboration in different sectors, including trade, investment, and economy, Radio Pakistan reported.

The commitment was expressed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on the sidelines of the eighth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) forum in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the meeting, conveyed his best wishes Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and prayed for his health and well-being. He thanked the Crown Prince for Saudi Arabia’s support for Pakistan in matters pertaining to international financial institutions. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during the visit.

Highlighting the significance of the Future Investment Initiative conference, Shehbaz Sharif praised the Crown Prince’s visionary leadership and noted that Saudi Vision 2030 aligns with Pakistan’s key policy goals.

The Prime Minister also referred to the recent visit of a high-level Saudi delegation, led by the Saudi Minister of Investment, and the memorandums of understanding signed during that visit, which lay the groundwork for the economic partnership between the two nations.

Both leaders also expressed concern over the ongoing Israeli aggression in the region, which has resulted in widespread destruction.

The meeting shows the longstanding and strengthening religious and cultural linkages between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the deepening relationship between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had called for collective global efforts and collaborations to overcome the contemporary challenges in the domains of artificial intelligence, education and health.

He added that no country in the world could overcome today’s challenges alone and could harness the potential of tomorrow without the support of others.

“Pakistan stands ready to join those who dare to dream big. We invite you to invest, to bring your expertise and creativity to Pakistan, as we build a future, rooted in resilience and shared prosperity,” the prime minister said during his speech at the plenary session of the 8th edition of the two-day Future Investment Initiative (FII).
