JEDDAH: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on the publication and translation of the Holy Quran, to promote religious knowledge.
The Saudi Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the agreement on social media platform X, stating, “The Ministry of Islamic Affairs signs a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs.”
The signing ceremony was held in Jeddah, attended by Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh.
The agreement stipulates cooperation to prepare preachers, introducing Islam and its virtues, printing, translating and distributing copies of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, as well as cooperating in organising training for preachers and imams, and exchanging expertise in mosque construction and maintenance, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Other areas of cooperation concern reviving Islamic heritage, publishing Islamic books and studies, collecting, preserving, cataloging, and disseminating Islamic texts and manuscripts that highlight the Muslim civilisation.

Saudi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Awad bin Sabti Al-Anazi, and y Zulfiqar Haider, Secretary for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony signed the MoU.
Meanwhile Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has signed an agreement with Saudi Airlines to support Hajj operations, ensuring travel arrangements for 35,000 Pakistani pilgrims.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Religious Affairs by Sultan Al-Harbi, the Country Manager of Saudi Airlines in Pakistan, and Dr Syed Ata-ur-Rehman, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
The Country Manager of Saudi Airlines reiterated the commitment to providing the best facilities for Pakistani pilgrims. Dr Ata-ur-Rehman said that all possible measures were being taken to ensure the provision of excellent facilities for Pakistani pilgrims.
