PERTH, Australia: Pakistan triumphed over Australia in the third and final ODI at Perth Stadium, securing their first series win on Australian soil in 22 years.

Chasing a modest target of 140 runs, Pakistan reached the mark with ease, sealing the match on the fifth ball of the 27th over, with only two wickets down.

This victory marked Rizwan’s first series win as captain outside Pakistan.

Haris Rauf was named both the Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his outstanding performances.

Openers Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub laid a strong foundation with scores of 37 and 42 runs, respectively. Shafique fell to Marcus Stoinis after being caught out, while Ayub was bowled by Stoinis on the final ball of the same over, momentarily halting the momentum.

Stepping up under pressure, captain Muhammad Rizwan and former skipper Babar Azam stabilized and accelerated the innings. Rizwan remained unbeaten with a composed 30, while Azam contributed 28 runs, showcasing his trademark class. Their partnership ensured a smooth path to victory, setting a new benchmark for the team and marking a historic series win.

Former captain Babar Azam came in at one-down and joined forces with new skipper Muhammad Rizwan. The duo played assertively, with Babar scoring 28 runs, including four boundaries, and Rizwan adding 30 runs featuring a boundary and two sixes, sealing the victory with ease.

Pakistan reached 94 for two after 20 overs in the third and final ODI at Perth Stadium on Sunday. The opening pair, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, laid a solid foundation with scores of 42 and 37 runs, facing 52 and 53 balls respectively. Australian pacer Lance Morris broke through, dismissing both openers to halt their momentum. Former captain Babar Azam stepped in at one-down, partnering with newly appointed skipper Muhammad Rizwan to stabilize the innings.

Earlier, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi both claimed three wickets as an understrength Australia set Pakistan just 141 to win their one-day series at Perth Stadium on Sunday.

With the three-match contest locked at 1-1 and Pakistan eyeing their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002, skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and sent in the hosts.

They proved no match for a high-quality attack led by Afridi (3-32) and Shah (3-54), with support from Haris Rauf (2-24).

Sean Abbott top scored with 30 before they were bundled out in the 32nd over for just 140.

Australia were without Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, along with pace trio Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc who are being rested ahead of the Test series against India.

For the third consecutive match Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short opened the batting, desperate for runs after failing to make an impact at Melbourne and Adelaide.

But on a pitch suited to the quick bowlers Fraser-McGurk again flopped, nicking a swinging Shah delivery to wicketkeeper Rizwan on seven.

Aaron Hardie, promoted to three in place of Smith, lasted 13 balls for his 12 before being caught at slip off the dangerous Afridi.

That brought stand-in skipper Josh Inglis to the crease, but he too departed cheaply for seven, skying a Shah bouncer that Rizwan collected to leave Australia on 56-3 in the 11th over.

Rauf, who took 5-29 in Adelaide, then accounted for Short (22) before youngster Cooper Connolly, in only his second ODI, was forced to retire hurt on seven after a nasty blow to his hand.

The out-of-form Glenn Maxwell only survived two balls with Rauf bagging him for the third time this series, caught at point by Saim Ayub, while Marcus Stoinis added just eight to the score as Australia stumbled to 88-6 in the 21st over.

Abbott and Adam Zampa (13) shared a handy 30-run partnership before the tail was mopped up.

Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took two wickets each in the third and final one day match against Australia held at Perth on Sunday as Australia cross 100 run mark.

The series is tied at 1-1 with both the teams winning a match each. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Hasnain settled for a wicket each.

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and chose to bowl in the third and final one-dayer against Australia in Perth on Sunday.

The series is finely poised at 1-1 after the hosts’ two-wicket win in Melbourne before Pakistan stormed back with a dominant nine-wicket victory at Adelaide.

Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith have all been rested for this game ahead of Australia’s Test series against India beginning later this month.

In their place come pace bowlers Sean Abbott, Spencer Johnson and Lance Morris, while Marcus Stoinis and Cooper Connolly bolster the batting.
