Pakistan Secures Semifinal Spot with 5-1 Win Over China in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy

HOLY NABIBOR:  Pakistan’s hockey team achieved a decisive 5-1 victory against China on Thursday, securing their place in the semifinals of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024. This win marks Pakistan’s second victory in the tournament.

Nadeem Ahmed and Hannan Shahid were the standout performers, each scoring two goals to lead Pakistan to an emphatic win. Abdul Rehman added another goal, further solidifying the team’s strong showing.

Looking ahead, Pakistan is set to face traditional rivals India in a high-stakes match this Saturday.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan secured their first win with a 2-1 victory over Japan. Ahmad Nadeem and Sufyan Khan scored for Pakistan, while Raiki Fujishima netted Japan’s only goal.

Pakistan’s earlier matches against South Korea and Malaysia ended in draws.

India, the defending champions, won the tournament last year by defeating Malaysia 4-3 in the final, claiming their fourth title. Japan won the bronze medal by defeating South Korea 5-3.

The Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, running from September 8 to September 17 in Holy Nabibor, China, features teams from India, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, China, and Pakistan.
