Pakistan, South Korea to Boost Bilateral Trade, Strengthen Cooperation, Says Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan, Park Kijun, emphasized on Monday the vast potential for collaboration between Pakistan and South Korea on major projects.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Park expressed his belief that a strong partnership could yield significant benefits for both nations. He commended Pakistan’s skilled workforce and highlighted the interest of South Korean IT companies in investing in the country, attracted by its young talent.

He proposed expanding cooperation in sectors such as energy and infrastructure and stressed the need to boost trade. With last year’s trade volume at $1.2 billion, he noted that there is considerable room for growth given the potential of both countries.

Ambassador Park acknowledged Pakistan’s rich natural resources and dynamic workforce while noting South Korea’s strengths in technology and economic development. He also expressed a keen interest in deepening cultural ties, particularly through South Korea’s fascination with Pakistan’s Gandhara heritage.

He announced plans for a Korea-Pakistan Gala scheduled for October in Islamabad. This event aims to bring together government officials and artists from both countries to celebrate and enhance the relationship between South Korea and Pakistan.
