ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON: The United States (US) has said that Pakistan will remain a stalwart partner in fighting terrorism.

At a weekly briefing, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said, “we’ve talked in recent days about our commitment to stand with Pakistan in the face of security threats.”

He was answering a question from a Pakistani journalist who requested assistance for Pakistan, which has seen an uptick in terrorist attacks recently.

Pakistan, a key ally of the US in the war on terror, has lost 75,000 people in more than 20 years.

Ned Price’s remarks came in the wake of the most recent terrorist attack on a mosque in Peshawar Police Lines that killed over 100 people.

Ned Price dodged the question about the American aid, saying, “Of course, this is any terrorist attack is something that we strongly condemn. But this attack killed innocent civilian citizens and public servants and individuals who had dedicated their lives to protecting their fellow Pakistani citizens.”

He said: “This scourge affects Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan. It is something crucial that we’re focused on throughout the whole region. When it comes to Pakistan they are an important ally of the US and a partner in many ways. We’ve recently discussed our commitment to stand with Pakistan facing these security threats.”

In the fight against terrorism, Pakistan will remain a “stalwart partner of the US and vice versa in the face of these deadly terrorist attacks,” Price said.
