ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Chaudhry Anwar Ul Haq, stated on Friday that Pakistan will continue to support the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) until the dispute is resolved in accordance with UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In an interview with state-run news agency APP, he criticized the global silence regarding human rights violations, the unilateral decision made on August 5, 2019, and the lack of implementation of UN resolutions, arguing that these factors encourage India to persist with its oppressive policies.

He highlighted the multifaceted restrictions faced by Kashmiris, including the incarceration of their leadership and the silencing of their voices. Despite these challenges, he asserted that the Kashmiris’ just struggle for self-determination remains unwavering.

Chaudhry Anwar Ul Haq expressed disappointment that the Kashmir dispute remains unresolved despite agreed-upon UNSC resolutions. He condemned India’s actions in IIOJK, describing the situation as a reign of terror aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri people’s demands for self-determination. He noted that on August 5, 2019, India revoked the region’s special status, facilitating settler colonization.

He lamented that the nightmare for Kashmiris, which began on October 27, 1947, continues as they endure daily hardships under occupation. With around one million troops stationed in the region, he labeled Kashmir the most militarized zone in the world.

The Parliamentary Secretary urged the international community and media to highlight the plight of the defenseless Kashmiri people and hold India accountable for its human rights violations in IIOJK. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the oppressed Kashmiris since the onset of Indian occupation in 1947.
