Pakistan Stock Exchange Scales New Peak, Settles Above 104,000 Points

ISLAMABAD: The 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued to witness an upward trajectory on Tuesday while crossing 104,000 points.

At the close of trading, the 100-index gained 1,284 points or 1.24 percent to stand at 104,559.07 points before closing at this record high.

The trading house maintained a bullish trend throughout the day, demonstrating the confidence of the investors. Buying was recorded in key sectors including automobile assemblers, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration companies, OMCs, and the refinery sector.

Overall, 1,766,474,377 shares were traded at the PSX during the day as compared to 1,556,252,523 shares the last working day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 56.624 billion against Rs. 47.097 billion on the previous trading day.

As many as 465 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 271 of them registered gains and 160 met losses, whereas the share price of 34 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were Cnergyico PK with 246,707,903 shares at Rs 6.72 per share followed by WorldCall Telecom with 89,419,070 shares at Rs 1.47 per share whereas Hascol Petrol settled with 87,024,698 shares at Rs.14.68 per share.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded a maximum increase of Rs.65.10 per share price, closing at Rs.19,865.11, whereas Nestle Pakistan Limited was the runner-up with Rs 48.51 rise in its per share price to Rs 6,681.38.

Hafiz Limited witnessed a maximum decline of Rs 21.31 per share closing at Rs 262.50 followed by Indus Motor Company Limited with a fall of Rs 20.65 to close at Rs 2,005.94.

According to experts exchange rate stability, a transition from one $3-billion arrangement to another longer facility with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), improvement in index-heavy sector’s earnings, and a general mood for stocks have been just a few factors behind the PSX phenomenal rise.
