Pakistan, Tajikistan Prime Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) Meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz warmly welcomed his Tajik counterpart to his office and praised Tajikistan’s active and constructive participation in the SCO CHG Meeting. He emphasized the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation shared by Tajikistan and Pakistan as brotherly countries and regional partners.

Reflecting on his productive visit to Dushanbe in July, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of their bilateral relationship. He underscored the importance of continued collaboration and the need to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of shared interest, particularly in trade, investment, energy, and regional connectivity.

Prime Minister Rasulzoda extended his warm congratulations on Pakistan’s successful organization of the SCO CHG Meeting, acknowledging Pakistan’s role as the SCO Chair. He expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown to him and the SCO delegates during the event.

Conveying the best wishes of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon to Prime Minister Shehbaz, Rasulzoda highlighted the significant potential for enhancing cooperation between the two nations and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan.

Furthermore, the Tajik Prime Minister expressed thanks to the Government of Pakistan for permitting the export of sugar to Tajikistan, noting that this would further boost bilateral trade between the two countries.
