ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, while reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, said on Wednesday that Pakistan always supported Palestinians and would continue to stand by them in the future as well.

Winding up debate on the motion in the Senate regarding Israeli attacks and atrocities against innocent Palestinians, the foreign minister demanded immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestinian territory and cease violation of human rights. He also demanded to recognize Palestine as an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The foreign minister said that it was our religious and national duty to support the Palestinian people against the brutal Israeli occupation, and we should all show solidarity towards the oppressed people of Palestine.

The foreign minister said that Gaza had been under illegal Israeli siege for the last seventeen years, and the Palestinian people had been facing an unprecedented terror wave since October 7.

Israeli Atrocities Against Palestinian Civilians

Jilani added that thousands of children and women had been martyred in the Gaza Strip during Israeli attacks so far.

Quoting the UN’s statistics, he said that nearly 8,500 Palestinians, including 3,500 minors, embraced martyrdoms besides wounds to more than 25,000 in the Israeli attacks so far. Likewise, he said that 180,000 houses and 222 schools had been destroyed.

The minister said that Israel had also targeted thirty-five health clinics and hospitals. Jalil Abbas said that the UN had compared Gaza to a “graveyard” because of the substantial loss of life.

He further said that now, Israel has also expanded its attacks beyond Gaza to the West Bank. Israel’s actions had not only disregarded international principles but also openly breached all human rights and international laws.

The minister expressed hope that the Senate’s voice would resonate as a symbol of peace and optimism for the Palestinians. He added that, like the Kashmir issue, Palestine was a longstanding unresolved problem on the UN agenda, and UN resolutions on both issues have not yet been implemented.
