ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to attracting foreign investments by maintaining a business-friendly environment.

He said this during a meeting with a delegation of international investors led by Amin Mohammad Khowaja, CEO of J.P. Morgan Pakistan.

Aurangzeb outlined the government’s ambitious structural reforms agenda, which includes broadening the tax base, rightsizing the public sector, advancing privatization efforts, and implementing energy sector reforms. These initiatives are designed to enhance overall macroeconomic stability.

The Finance Minister highlighted recent improvements in Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators, such as a 14 percent increase in exports, a reduction in inflation to 9.6 percent—the lowest in 34 months—and a decrease in the current account deficit.

He also noted the upgrade in Pakistan’s sovereign credit ratings, which reflect a stable and promising economic outlook. According to Aurangzeb, the country’s economic growth is supported by strong fiscal discipline, effective inflation management, and a favorable balance of payments.

The delegation praised the government’s efforts to foster a business-friendly environment and expressed optimism about the potential for increased investment in Pakistan. The discussions covered various investment opportunities, including renewable energy, information technology, infrastructure development, and the financial sector.

The investors showed a strong interest in these sectors, recognizing Pakistan’s market potential and its strategic location as a gateway to regional markets. They are eager to explore investment opportunities in various fields.

Aurangzeb assured the delegation of the government’s full support in facilitating their investment ventures and welcomed their interest in contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.
