ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that Pakistan would receive $1 billion from China today (Friday) or tomorrow, after the fast-track refinancing loan request from the government.
The economy czar said that Pakistan was also engaged in talks with Bank of China (BoC) for $300 million, while it would also receive a good amount under the swap deal with China.
The fast-track refinancing loan request was made by Dar during a meeting with China’s Charge d’affaires Pang Chunxue on Tuesday.
Pakistan’s forex reserves
The cash-strapped Pakistan is facing the issue of the historic low forex reserves for months. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has just $4.01 in foreign exchange reserves, and the government is struggling to shore it up .
