Pakistan to Send 1,000 Students to China for Agricultural Training: PM Shehbaz

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan would to send a batch of 1,000 students to the Chinese’s Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Base for advanced training in the field of agriculture.

During his visit to the Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Base, Pakistani’s premier said that the government would cover all expenses for these students. “Shehbaz Sharif directed the Ambassador of Pakistan in China and other relevant officials to finalize the arrangements in collaboration with Chinese authorities,” a statement issued from the PM Office Media Wing read.

During his visit, the PM took a round of various sections and the Pakistani Pavilion, which showcased products from Pakistan.

He was accompanied by Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Rana Tanveer Hussain.

Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif incited the North West Agriculture and Forestry University to establish a campus in Pakistan, pledging full government support for the initiative.

In a briefing, the Prime Minister was informed that 26 countries were involved in agricultural research at the base, with Pakistan being a pioneering contributor. He was updated on the participation of Pakistani scientists and universities in ongoing research endeavors.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s status as an agricultural nation, Prime Minister Sharif expressed a keen interest in adopting innovative practices to enhance agricultural productivity. He underscored the government’s priorities of increasing exports through the development and processing of agricultural products.

During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif toured a state-of-the-art plant production facility, where practical agricultural mechanisms were demonstrated.
