ISLAMABAD: Despite grappling with political unrest, struggling economy, and soaring inflation rate, Pakistan has been ranked first as the cheapest country in the world to live in, based on the living and rent cost index.

The World of Statistics put Pakistan at the top in its ranking, followed by Egypt in second and India in third positions.

The living cost and related indices are based on the money needed in terms of United States dollars to live in a state. However, a number of Pakistanis have seen their purchasing power sharply reduced in recent months due to surging dollar rate. Their income has been decreased in greenback terms.

With an index score of eighteen, Pakistan’s ranking reflects its low cost of living compared to other countries.

The Rent Index score was recorded as 3.4, showing the accommodation affordability in the country.
