Pakistan, Turkiye and Iran Condemn Israeli Aggression in Gaza

ISTANBUL: Pakistan and Iran have reiterated their commitment to further strengthen their mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and dialogue.

According to Pakistan’s state-run radio Pakistan, Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Acting Foreign Minister of Iran, Ali Bagheri, held a meeting on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, Turkiye.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the trajectory of bilateral relations, characterized by increased high-level exchanges in political, economic, defense, security, and intelligence domains.

Furthermore, they discussed the ongoing Israeli bombardment and targeting of refugee camps in Rafah, Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to halt Israeli aggression and its violations of international humanitarian law.

Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the people of Palestine and their right to self-determination.

He recalled the successful visit of late President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan in April this year and the significant agreements reached during the visit. Dar also praised the efforts of President Raisi and late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in strengthening Pak-Iran bilateral relations.

The acting Foreign Minister of Iran congratulated Ishaq Dar on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Dar expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for Iran’s support and expressed the desire for continued collaboration to uphold international law and the UN Charter.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar also held a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.

Foreign Minister Fidan congratulated Ishaq Dar on Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude for Turkiye’s support and expressed Pakistan’s commitment to collaborating with Turkiye in upholding international law and the UN Charter.

Both sides called for concerted international efforts to halt Israeli aggression and the genocide of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need for a two-state solution for lasting peace in the Middle East.

Ishaq Dar commended Turkiye for taking the initiative to convene the Extraordinary Meeting of the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers to address the dire situation in Gaza resulting from Israeli aggression since October.
