AMMAN: Pakistan and the United Kingdom reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their partnership across various areas of mutual interest.

This consensus was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and the UK’s Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations, and the Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Ahmad, held in Amman, Jordan today.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Jorden emergency international conference on Gaza’s humanitarian crisis.

Both parties expressed contentment with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations.

Senator Dar underscored the global rise of Islamophobia, stressing the need for promoting inter-faith dialogue and combating religious defamation.

He also advocated for the formalization, expansion, and elevation of bilateral ties through an Enhanced Strategic Partnership.

Both sides agreed to advance collaboration on migration issues under the UK-Pakistan Returns and Readmissions Agreement.

The discussion also encompassed regional developments, with a focus on stability in Afghanistan, South Asia, and the Middle East.
